It follows a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts who use the town’s sudden interest in the occult to build a reputation as a satanic metal band, until a strange series of events sparks a witch hunt that leads back to them. The few memorable characters are able to rise above bad direction and writing. "the teenagers" they’re not nerdy or brash, but they talk like a 20-something.
They say things that the director obviously didn’t take the time to explain to them – so it’s not funny or a secret joke. Even the leads are 100% caricatures; I have to like at least one of them and not want to see them die a horrible death.
It’s a 6/10, not a 5/10 because of Bruce Campbell. Instead, watch S4 of Stanger Things and see a true representation of that era in Eddy.
