Two criminal twin brothers, one of whom is trying to reform, embark on a dangerous journey in search of a heist. Faced with legal troubles, shootings, and family drama, they must reconcile their differences before the mission leads to their own destruction.
Emmet Walsh (Judge Farful). A top-shelf cast, including Peter Dinklage, Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, and Brendan Fraser, is not enough to elevate “Brothers” above your average comedy.
Unlike Max Barbakow’s previous film, Palm Springs, which explored the time loop in an interesting and romantic way with fascinating characters, this film relies solely on the uncomfortable equation between the brothers and their mother. But the film doesn’t take too many narrative risks, sticking to the basics of what a dysfunctional family is, providing one-liners and slapstick humor (courtesy of Fraser’s Crooked Cop ), and ultimately treading familiar paths, even if it does employ elements of heist control.
